Transforming Negative Experiences

Take every experience that you percieve as negative and find the positive in it. What did you learn from that experience? What is this experience teaching you about yourself?

Do you ever feel like you’re stuck in an unfavourable situation, or that the world is working against you? Maybe you didn’t get the dream job offer you wanted, or your day did not go as planned.

When things in life get difficult and you experience an unfavourable situation, it’s helpful to look at the situation from a different mindset. Every single experience can teach you something. Transforming how you perceive the negative situation into a positive one is key.

From our perspective, the best way to do this is to avoid reacting impulsively to the negative situation you are experiencing. Instead take a step back and ask yourself, what is this situation or person teaching me about life or about myself? For example, you could write down your perceived negative experience in a journal, and reflect on it by using the sentence, “this is good because…” as a framework.

You can use this exercise with any perceived negative experience in your life, and transform it into a learning experience! Keep learning from life and what it has to offer (good or bad), and never ever stop; the world around you will start working with you instead of against you.
